Welcome to Pink Shirt Project: empowering youth to create positive projects in their communities!

Since 2022, The Pink Shirt Project has been introduced to approximately 7,281 students across Canada with the amazing support of Heritage Canada.

In 24-25 we will continue to engage, train and motivate Canadian youth to create and implement projects that address issues of concern to them. Students work together to discuss topics of interest, come together in a facilitated approach to decide what and how to improve their school and/or community. Students will learn valuable life skills as they lead positive actions with their peers. Pink Shirt Project is an initiative of the WITS Programs Foundation.

The process includes training in Creative Process to innovate and lead these projects with the help of our staff. Schools opting for this exciting project will also have the opportunity to  have their project featured on the Pink Shirt Day Canada broadcast annually on the last day of February!

Quotes from teachers:

“I really enjoyed the program and truly thought it was beneficial and impactful to my grade 8’s. I saw them shine in leadership roles and come together as a group and work together. I am extremely proud of my grade 8 class and was impressed watching them rise to the task. We spent months organizing, preparing, creating, and facilitating their projects. I just wanted to pass along the great experience we had and how the other two grade classes were jealous they didn’t get to do the Pink Shirt Project!”
Youth Counsellor at Forestview Public School

“Through the outreach program of our senior show which Mean Girls: High School Version, along with the Service Club, we ran a very successful “On Wednesdays we wear Pink” campaign in the month of February. The Art department created and sold tote bags with body affirming or uplifting messages inside. We held discussions about the subversive bullying that happens in high schools and how we can only affect change by being the change. Personally, albeit small, I did notice some small differences in behaviour that came out of this campaign.”
Drama and Theatre Teacher at Southridge School

“The students have been linking civic action initiatives to the 17 UN Sustainable Develpment Goals. For their Pink Shirt Projects, I had them come up with their own civic action project in addition to becoming experts in the SDG that it would connect to.  We have had projects that touch on Inclusion/Anti-racism, Mental Health and Well-Being, Food Insecurities, Climate Change and Poverty. I love this program and would love to start Term 2 by introducing it to my next International Citizenship and Understanding Class.”
